From Circuits to the Dance Floor is intended to be a 22-minute episode of LoveHertz, an original educational radio segment that bridges music history, technology, and culture. Recorded in Studio A, the episode was designed as a hybrid between a documentary and a college lecture, blending historical storytelling with interactive elements for the listener.
I explored how technological innovation has driven and shaped musical creativity — from early electronic instruments and the experimental world of musique concrète to the atmospheric minimalism of Brian Eno’s ambient works and the social revolution of disco. The episode ends with a deep dive into Jamaican sound system culture, tracing the roots of modern DJing and remix culture.
Listener “Fern” wrote in with questions about sound design and music technology, prompting an interactive Q&A that was intended to make the episode feel both informative and conversational. Our instructor, Mr. Fernandez, provided the questions meant to be addressed in our pre-recorded video presentations.
LoveHertz isn’t just about music history but about helping audiences recognize the human artistry and craftsmanship behind every machine, mix, and melody.
Reflection:
Producing From Circuits to the Dance Floor showed me how teaching through audio can reach people who learn by listening - perhaps a niche audience I can find myself producing content for. I wanted to create something that felt like a “mini class,” but with the rhythm and warmth of live radio. As a communicator, I’m inspired by how sound and audio technology connect to storytelling in the world of today.
